Electrical safety and electrical inspection records

Every home must have an electrical installation condition report (EICR) safety inspection completed every 5 years.

What they will do

The inspection will include a check of:

  • sockets in your home
  • the fuse board
  • lighting circuits
  • power supplies to appliances

They will need to check every room in your home.

You may need to move furniture or personal items to allow access to sockets or wiring.

The EICR takes 2 to 3 hours to complete, and we will be provided with a report. The report will detail the condition of your electrics and any works we need to complete to make your home safer.

When they will come

Our contractors will contact you 42 days before the service due date with an appointment date and time.

If this is not convenient, phone 0121 216 3330 to rebook.

If you cannot move your furniture

It is your responsibility to move your belongings to allow access.

If you cannot do this yourself, arrange for a friend or family member to assist you. Our electricians cannot move your belongings for you.

If you have a lot of belongings, or concerns that they will not be able to complete the inspection in full, contact us to discuss directly by phoning 0121 216 3330.

If you do not let us in your home

Your electrical inspection is a legal requirement, and the council will take action to make sure that it is completed.

Not allowing access is a breach of your tenancy and may result in you losing your home.

Be safe, let us in to do the work we have to do
